Get Involved with CCSAI & Contribute to College-Level Decision Making!

How you can have your voice, and your concerns, heard year-round.

With elections just around the corner, it’s time to reflect on your experiences at Centennial College. What have you enjoyed? What have you learned? What could be improved?

If you’ve had less-than-ideal experiences with aspects of college life, you’re probably not alone. Voice these issues and help make Centennial a better place for all. Even if you’re not a candidate for the CCSAI board of directors, you can still have an impact on life at Centennial College. By utilizing the available platforms and resources, you can connect directly with the CCSAI, give feedback, air your concerns, and provide input into college-level decision-making through these five channels:

CCSAI Elections

The CCSAI elections, taking place on the 21st and 22nd of March, will determine the board of directors for the 2024/2025 academic year. These elections are crucial as the results will affect all Centennial college students. They’re not just an opportunity for change but a chance to select board members best suited to address student concerns. Your vote matters, as it can directly influence the tone set for the entire school year.

All Candidates Forum

Meet the candidates for the 2024/2025 Board of Directors at the all-candidate forum on the 14th of March. Here, candidates will present their ideas and visions for the board, followed by a Q&A session. Use this opportunity to get to know your candidates better and share the issues you’d like addressed in the upcoming year. The forum helps you identify candidates who align with your interests, empowering you to make an informed decision during the elections.

General Meetings

The CCSAI regularly holds general meetings for the entire student body, including Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings. These town hall-style gatherings provide a platform for students to voice concerns and opinions on matters such as finances, budgeting, policies, and by-laws. They also offer opportunities for networking with the board and fellow students, often accompanied by light refreshments.

Campus Events

You may have heard of CCSAI’s snack and chat sessions or roadshow events over the past semester. These events are part of CCSAI’s efforts to engage with Centennial students in an informal setting. Whether you want to discuss academics, advocacy, or simply meet fellow students, these events provide the perfect opportunity.

Advising Council

The CCSAI appoints a group of students to the Advising Council, representing diverse perspectives and interests at Centennial College. By providing feedback on CCSAI’s campaigns, services, and activities, the Advising Council ensures the continued efficacy and reach of the CCSAI. The council also supports equity-oriented initiatives and participates in awards selection committees where appropriate. The Advising Council consists of three to five student representatives selected from a pool of applicants based on their dedication to enhancing the CCSAI, enriching student experiences, and their capability to reflect the diversity of the student body.

In addition to these channels, the CCSAI offers a suggestion box for students to share their input directly with the board. This box can be used to submit opinions, issues, improvement ideas, feedback, and support requests anonymously, strategically improving the student experience.

The CCSAI is committed to the well-being and success of all students at Centennial College, but it requires your input. At Centennial, every student can make a difference, and the CCSAI is here to provide you with the necessary tools to do so.
