We attended the final College Council Meeting for the Academic Year 2023-2024, which included presentations on a new Black Studies Specialized Academic Certificate Program, Curriculum Modifications, Comprehensive Program Quality Review Reports, and amendments to the Student Code of Conduct Policy Framework. The College Council serves as an avenue for students, faculty, and staff to make recommendations and approve curriculum, curriculum development, and other academic related decision-making.
CASA Foundation Conference
In May, President Ajané, Morningside VP Baljit, Story Arts Centre VP Vivian, Ashtonbee VP Rofiyat, and PAC Representative Logan attended the Foundation Conference held by Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) where they worked on the initial stages of federal advocacy priorities for this year. Issues surrounding on-campus mental health support, Indigenous student supports, and more were discussed at the conference.
Ontario Student Voices Conference
President Ajané, Downsview VP Khushbir, and Progress VP Kara attended the Ontario Student Voices (OSV) Conference, focusing on provincial-level advocacy for Health and Wellness, Student Financial Aid, Food Insecurity, and more. We had the opportunity to attend the Gala Night where we had the opportunity to meet MPPs Clancy, Hazel, and West.
Happy Pride
We proudly celebrated Pride Month with various events and activities throughout the month. This year we celebrated the 5th Annual Pride Fundraiser in collaboration with Queering Community Student Collective (QCSC) and Centennial College to raise a total amount of $50,000 which will benefit over 500 queer identifying students.
The Drag Bingo with Miss Fiercalicious was indeed fun-filled and kept everyone on their A-game to win some exciting prizes. And finally, the Pride Parde held on June 30th was the perfect end to an eventful Pride month!
Con-GRAD-ulations grads! 😉
Along with our Alumni Association, we represented Centennial students in the graduation ceremonies by passing a symbolic mace to an alumni representative. There were over 15 ceremonies, and we are so proud of our graduates! Find photos from convocation on our Facebook page.
Board Retreat and Team Building
During our recent retreat, the Board underwent extensive governance training and developed a comprehensive strategic plan, considering Centennial College students as our primary stakeholders and customers.
If you need to connect with us or book an appointment, visit CCSAI.ca/board-central.
Looking ahead, we invite you to let us know if you would like the Board to set up a pop-up table on your campus to hear your voices and discuss your concerns!
What’s upcoming?
