Hello students! My name is Logan Routhier, I studied music at Centennial College, and I am honoured and thrilled to be your President for 2025-2026. Now you may be asking yourself:
Wait, President? CCSAI? What’s going on here???I thought the elections were cancelled! I saw it on Instagram!
All very good questions! I’ll get to them in a few but first let me introduce myself. As mentioned, I studied music at Centennial. Since February 2024 I was the CCSAI Representative for the Performing Arts Centre and was further elected as the Vice President of the Story Arts Centre. I was elected and worked with the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) as part of the national advocacy committee last year, I now serve on the board of directors as Director of Advocacy at CASA. Representing over 500 000 students across Canada!
I’ve had meetings with parliamentarians. I have also received trainings in EDI, media, government relations etc. I also have a Diploma in Social Science which includes the completion of several courses in macro-economics, psychology, political science and more. I speak fluently both French and English and have been part of the CCSAI board since 2024.
My goal this year is simple, to empower your voices and give you the opportunity not just to be customers of CCSAI, but an integral, structural component of the organization in all areas. I want you all to be informed, engaged, and lead CCSAI to be better and do better for you. The 2025-2029 CCSAI strategic plan; with its thousands of consultations with students, gives us a solid foundation to base our work on this year. At the end of the day:
You are the owners of the Association, and your grip on the ownership of CCSAI will only get stronger.
How does the board intend to do this? In a few ways…
Student Engagement
- Developing and implementing an annual communications strategy so folks from all campuses are kept in the loop with whatever is happening at CCSAI. We want to keep you informed on a constant basis not just on our events but on our advocacy, clubs, finances, etc. Transparency is a very high priority, and we will increase our efforts in doing so. We will track the engagement, course-correct if needed and give you all the opportunities to stay informed.
- Implementing transformational committees that will give the power to students to make decisions. We want you all to be at the decision-making table. Which is why we will strike multiple committees, composed of students-at-large, to affect our decisions. These committees will recommend policy changes, by-law updates and advocacy campaigns to the board. You, as a student will be a structural pillar in decision making, holding the board accountable and providing you a seat at the table.
- Consultations, consultations and more consultations. We want to make sure that our initiatives are representing what the students need. Which is why we will consult through town halls, zoom drop-in sessions with board members and more surveys than was thought possible. We want to do right by you.
Action Planning:
- Our action plans this year is ambitious, and I can’t wait to show it to you folks. It will help bolster our current CCSAI programs collaborate with career services and offering workshops, and more initiatives will be coming your way. Every objective ties-in with what you told us you wanted through the strategic plan.
- Indigenous voices will be at the forefront of CCSAI this year, they will be empowered to self-govern, self-advocate, and follow their rich cultures and traditions through the indigenous strategic framework and the creation of the Indigenous Student Union. CCSAI will be a space where Indigenous students can thrive and where their presence is not just for show, but there to make change happen.
Work Opportunities:
- Through our committees, offering several paid positions to students. Giving you the chance to earn some money, get professional experience, and be an integral part of CCSAI.
Advocacy:
- Advocate for you all, at the municipal, internal, provincial and federal level. Keep pushing for more wins for you.
- Get an advocacy committee composed of students to lead campaign efforts and help represent all campuses.
- Fighting for international students, aiming for an education that is equitable and affordable no matter where you come from.
But most importantly, I want to be here, for you. When I first came to Toronto, I was filled with anxiety, I didn’t anyone and had to stay at a place I never even saw before I came here. I know some of you folks felt the same way, but I want to support you in any way I can. Whether you have a problem at school, your landlord is giving you trouble, or you simply want to have a chat with me, don’t hesitate to drop me a text, shoot me an email or DM me on Instagram. Being president is an act I want to move with one thing in mind: Public Servitude. I am excited for what’s ahead and bring you along the journey.
With the kindest of regards,
Logan Routhier, 2025/26 President
