The Board Bulletin – January

Hello, Centennial Colts. This is what your board was up to this month:

Winter Orientation

Winter semester is here! And we are ready for it. If you were around any of the campuses at the beginning of January, you probably saw some of the board members and the CCSAI team at the campus orientations.

We were all around, connecting with students and getting to know the new faces we were so excited to represent. We welcome you to a life of opportunities at Centennial and of course, at your Student Association.

Some fun and connection during Winter Roadshows

At the beginning of every semester, CCSAI hosts roadshows on all campuses. We find it a good opportunity to connect with you, play games, and not only raise awareness about the work that we do but so many clubs and associations are also present to teach you more about how they operate.

Taking advocacy to the next step

This month, our president Ajané Adams was seen in New York City’s United Nations headquarters taking our advocacy to the global level, for the first time! He was there to represent students in Canada and connect with stakeholders to discuss issues that we all face such as food insecurity, the climate, and the housing crisis.

Campaigning for affordable textbooks

This month, the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations started preparations to launch the Fair Dealing campaign! These efforts have been planned since last year when students all across the country decided that copyright was an advocacy priority. Preserving fair dealing allows students to consume part of educational material without paying very high amounts for it. In short, we don’t want textbooks to get more expensive, and we are here to fight for that right!

We went around the Ashtonbee campus to hear your voices and get some help to spread the word to the federal government!

New Clubs in the area…

We ratified a few new clubs, and we encourage future leaders who want to connect with like-minded folks to keep applying to create new clubs. Here’s what’s new:

  • Pakistani Student Association
  • CCSAI Game Makers (Developers)
  • Centennial College Human Resource Student Association

What’s coming up?

  • Valentines Day Raffle: Keep your eyes out on our social media handles to learn more about it!
  • Black History Month Celebration

Join us for a vibrant celebration of Black History Month! Immerse yourself in the rhythm of multiple acts featuring outstanding black performers. Don’t miss out on this one!
