The Fall semester has come to a close, and we want to thank you for your continued support and for working with us to make your voices heard.
Remembrance Day
Together, we took the time to honor Remembrance Day last November, reflecting on the hard work, dedication, and sacrifices of Canadian troops who have served and continue to serve our country. It was an important moment to pause, remember, and show gratitude for their bravery and commitment to peace and freedom.

Provincial Advocacy with Ontario Student Voices
During OSV’s advocacy week, President Ajane Adams, VP Kara Mei Herrera, VP Rofiyat Olawoyin, and VP Vivian Eke, met with over 30 MPPs, including Andrea Hazell, Kristyn Wong-Tam, David Smith, Jill Andrew, Aris Babikian, and Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria. Key discussions focused on actionable recommendations such as eliminating interest on the provincial portion of Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loans, addressing food insecurity through a comprehensive food security strategy, improving mental health supports via increased Mental Health Worker Grant funding, and expanding work-integrated learning opportunities by establishing bursaries and standardized assessments for student needs.
Federal Advocacy with Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA)
At the federal level, President Ajane Adams, VP Baljit Kaur, Representative Logan Routhier, and Representative Mukwa Ladoucer with CASA representatives met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Marc Miller, and various MPs to advance the “Secure the Grants” campaign. This initiative calls for increasing the Canada Student Grant from $3,000 to $4,200 annually, providing meaningful financial relief during a time of rising costs. CASA also proposed increasing funding for Indigenous student programs, enhancing Canada’s skilled trades workforce by mandating 20% apprentice hours in federal infrastructure and housing projects, and doubling Express Entry immigration points for Canadian post-secondary graduates to retain skilled talent.
These advocacy efforts reflect our unwavering commitment to making education more accessible, reducing financial barriers, and ensuring that students like you can focus on learning, thriving, and building a better future.
