Closure July 1 & 2, 2012

Please note that all CCSAI offices and facilities will be closed on Sunday, July 1 & Monday, 2 for the Canada Day holiday. This means that SASS, the AWC, and Student Centres will be closed as well.

We will resume normal operations on Tuesday, July 3.

Morningside Campus CCSAI Lounge and Fitness Centre reopening

The newly renovated Student Lounge and Fitness Centre at Morningside opened on Thursday, June 21 with a bang! Students were welcome to walk through the new facilities, eat free cake and subs, and a good time was had by all.

For the summer, the Fitness Centre will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the Student Lounge will be open Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m

Squash Courts Open in the AWC

Our squash courts are finally ready for play!

On Thursday, June 21 at 11:30 a.m., Brad Chapman and Rob Scott played the first game in the brand-new facilities. Chapman, Centennial’s CFO and VP, Business Development and Scott, a Paralegal student with an undergrad Philosophy degree from Wilfred Laurier University, played a fast-paced game that ended in a close 11-9 score for Scott.

First Game in the AWC Squash Courts!

We’ve all been waiting patiently for the completion of the brand-new AWC squash courts, and they’re almost ready!

The first game will be played by Brad Chapman, Centennial College’s CFO and Vice President, Business Development at 11:30 a.m. on June 21.

The courts will be open for everyone to use on June 25th. Ask at the GSR desk about equipment sign outs and access to the squash courts!

Culturama 2012 at the AWC

The AWC was filled with the sights and sounds of cultures from around the world on Sunday with the first annual Culturama. The event was hosted by Centennial College and the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culture. The festival included multicultural demonstrations, crafts, foods from around the world and live song and dance performances. The event represented a wide range of cultures and groups including Scouts Canada, the Guild Inn Theatre Group, Highland dancing from Bold Steps Dance Studio and the Latin Energy Dance Studio, among others.

Philosopher’s Cafe in the Fireside Gallery

Students are always wondering what they need to be successful and if they could be doing more to prepare themselves for the rapidly changing world. A discussion was held on Monday to help students explore how to best prepare themselves for the future. The discussion was part of the Institute for Global Citizenship’s philosopher’s cafe held in the Fireside Gallery at the Progress Library.
